He Lived, He Gave, He Received: Lessons on Life’s Fragility
I came across a story on the internet that shook me. A young man, not yet 30, was doing well by every standard we know. He had built his parents a home. He was driving his own car. He was earning a six-figure salary. He was even building his dream four-bedroom house. On the surface, it was the kind of life many of us pray for.
But just as he was about to finish his house, tragedy struck. He passed away.
It’s the kind of story that stops you in your tracks because it holds up a mirror to the fragility of life. Here was someone doing everything “right.” He was responsible, hardworking, loving to his parents, planning for his future. And yet, unpredictability cut his story short.
Life’s Unpredictability is Painful
We often comfort ourselves by thinking that if we work hard, plan well, and live responsibly, things will go smoothly. But life is rarely so predictable. We are not promised tomorrow. The people we laugh with today may be gone tomorrow. The projects we begin with so much energy may be left unfinished. This realization is painful, but it is also deeply human.
Gratitude and Presence
Stories like this teach us the value of presence. If life can be interrupted without warning, then the best way to live is with gratitude for each day. It is not the size of our house or the number in our bank account that matters most, but whether we expressed love, whether we served others, and whether we enjoyed the moments given to us.
He Lived, He Gave, He Received
From what I read, this young man had already lived in the truest sense. He gave love to his parents by building them a home. He expressed his care for himself by working toward his own house. He received joy through his relationships, his work, and his creativity. His life was not measured in years but in expression.
And that is the real takeaway: a full life is not always a long one. It is one where love was given and received, where who we are was expressed openly, where others were left better than we found them.
Such is Life
Life is unpredictable. It can be unfair. But it is also a gift. The young man’s story reminds us not to postpone gratitude, not to withhold love, not to wait until everything is perfect. Because sometimes, tomorrow does not come.
So we live today. We love today. We give today. Because in the end, that is all that will matter.
Very heartfelt🥲
